AWC Onboarding Proposal
What are the challenges we are facing?
- I am concerned that by pinging everyone every Monday we have a lot of folks who turn off notifications from the server. This would result in folks being members but not being active as they don't have the other notifications getting to them (posts to conversations, channels, etc) and may prevent them from finding other events to get involved with.
- We could add opt-in roles including weekly water cooler and book club. Reducing the number and content of pings may help folks be more open to keeping notifications on.
- Zach has mentioned interest in a "board" of sorts, folks who have been long-time active members who would be interested in long term visioning for the community, but not interested in being technical admin. This could create additional ownership and buy-in for the community, prep some folks for admin responsibilities- and honestly reduce the burden of the admin role.
- Adding roles and channels for this could be useful. This could also be a space where we can discuss larger issues and troubleshoot them outside the admin space. Maybe that turns Admin into the logistic/ technical action takers and the board into the idea folks.

Welcome Message:
Hi [username]! We are a community of folks interested in learning, teaching and growing in the Agile ways of thinking. We are made up of folks from many different industries, all over the world, executing and utilizing Agile and a wide variety of ways.
At our core, we seek to grow and understand Agile ways of working better and better through continued conversation and practice.
I've curated some things or you to get started with below.
New Member To Do's
- Introduce yourself in introductions
- Make a post in Introductions
- Post a question or respond to a question in general
- Make a post in General
- Consider attending our weekly call
- Visit the Weekly Call Info Channel
I believe that separating the channels into sections will make them easier to navigate and may make it easier to know where to post specific questions. This set up will also make the Weekly Call a more intentional feature.
