Job Search Retrospective
The Job Search Retrospective is a space where a few folks get together to reflect on the last sprint of our job search.
I will lead the group through a few opportunities to talk and discuss what the sprint looked like and where we find some opportunities for improvement, however most of the time is spent in independent work.
Why Independent Work?
In a normal team retrospective, we are all working towards the same outcomes (solve x problem, or build y solution) nobody wins unless everyone wins. Here, while we are all working on similar things- we are not actually a team - it is possible for one of us to win without the others winning.
There is benefit in doing this work synchronously and not everyone will find that benefit, but the select few who do will find independent work in this space helpful to their overall success.
How did this come about?
I was working with my executive coach on some challenges I was having with my job search and realized that I was using a lot of my coaching time explaining to him what went well and what did not. I find that I get a lot more benefit from doing this difficult work before our sessions so that I can use our time together to work in a more collaborative space.
Knowing that this has been beneficial for me, I set up this group to meet and run through this process individually, collectively as a means to keep accountability, and create a little more stimulation than doing it individually, alone.
Thoughts still in progress....
