Where to start learning about Scrum

Based in Australia and have many years of experience managing/supervising a small team in busy hospitality environments and currently working for a call-centre. I'm only in my early 20's and don't desire this to be my career path and am exploring many other options at the moment and was suggested the possibility of becoming a scrum master by a friend. Curiousoty got the best of me and I wanted to ask about the process of learning the role and transitioning into it as I do my own research on what it involves and how to get qualifications. Would appreciate any and all advice!
It depends on how you learn best:
Books
If you want to read/ listen to books, my trifecta is (in order):
- Scrum: The art of doing twice the work in half the time" By Jeff Sutherland https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/19288230-scrum
- "The Scrum Fieldbook: ..." (an even longer title) By JJ and Jeff Sutherland https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/43582738-the-scrum-fieldbook
- "Scrum Mastery: From good to great servant leadership" by Geoff Watts https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18165261-scrum-mastery
Jeff Sutherland is one of the two who originally came up with Scrum.
Discord
If you want some good conversation, check out the Monday calls on the Agile Water Cooler Discord group:
www.agilewatercooler.com
As you are from Australia, it may be difficult to catch the call (Monday mornings in the US).
The group also has a lot of great chat conversation energy. Feel free to post questions and find the answers that are encouraging and make sense to you.
Online / videos
Mike Cohn has a lot of great videos through his group "mountain goat software" (link at the bottom).
If you google questions, etc. there are a few pretty reliable sites that provide answers, forums discussion, and blogs:
Scrum.org (founded by Ken Schwaber, co-founder of Scrum)
Scruminc.com (founded by Jeff Sutherland, co-founder of Scrum)
mountaingoatsoftware.com (Mike Cohn is pretty reliable on this stuff)
Reach Out
I am always open to nerding out and chatting about Scrum. Reach out if you want more chats.
